On this White and Middleton Reciprocating Engine, the large flywheels stored kinetic energy from the power stroke of the piston to use later in the compression stroke. Specs were hard to find, but watching the Youtube Video it seems to run about 5rev/s, the flywheels are about 24in in diameter and probably weigh about 80lb each with a radius of gyration of 10in. Assume the flywheels are rotating 5rev/s when they begin the compression stroke. Assume that during the compression stroke the piston is compressed 10in against an average force of 2delta.deltadeltadelta lb. Determine the final angular velocity of the flywheels at the end of the compression stroke.
